How to configure reverse Dns( rdns)

Reverse DNS takes the IP address and returns the domain name as opposed to the normal way of the domain name returning to the Ip address. This is a technique that’s used to counter spammers who send spams with non-existent domains. The reverse DNS check the path back to the sender, if it’s not a legit domain, then the email is discarded or flagged as spam.

Forward DNS lookups or (normal) use A records to determine a domain name’s IP address, while reverse DNS lookups use PTR records to determine an IP address’ associated domain name.

Shared and reseller servers already have reverse DNS configured. If you find that this is not the case for your account, please open a support ticket and let us know.

If you have a VPS or dedicated hosting account, we can set up reverse DNS for you.
