Installing and Configuring the Postie Plug-in in WordPress
Sending posts via emails is one of the handy thing that prevents long paths of having to log in to a computer. Instead, devices with access to computers such as a smartphone,
get a chance to send a post through a cron job and other supportive plug-ins.
To install the plugin for postie;
- Login as the administrator
- Click on plugins, -add new
- You can search through the textbox and click postie
- Locate postie application and click install
- Lastly activate it.
To configure this postie
- Log in to wordpress as an administrator
- Click settings- click postie,-choose IMAP or POP3 in the mail server tab
- In the text box search for your server name
- In Email ID text box,type the correct email address where the emails will be submitted followed with a password there below
- Check for mail every-choose when postie should be checking new submissions of posts.
- Set a maximum number of emails
- Click on usertab and say no to anyone to post
- Authorized access-type emails of people who can post and in what form(image ,video,message etc ) and save.
- Click postie settings- test config-connect to mail host and you will see a message of success reading as the protocol you selected(successful IMAP-SSL connections on port). If no message repeat from where you set the protocol.
- You can test the postie by sending one from your webmail, and with a limit of how many emails can be processed and definitely it will appear on your new page.
