How to delist your VPS IP from blacklist

Sometimes, your VPS IP may be blacklisted due to a user you are hosting sending spam, perhaps due to a compromised email password on one of their email accounts.

Such blacklists affects your VPS email delivability.

This guide will show you how to delist a blacklisted IP

Fixing the issue

The first step is to fix the issue that causes the IP to be blacklisted in the first place. Common causes and their solutions are as follows. Should you get stuck however, please reach out to our Support Team for guidance.

IssueCausePossible Fix
Compromised Email Password– Password for the email may have been easy to crack
– End Users device e.g Outlook may be infected with a virus
Scan the computer where the email is connected with an antivirus and reset the email password. Use a strong password , for example Fbi7=W3hnSKYyA+
Misconfigured contact form– If you set a contact form to send mails to the person filling in the form, it may be used abusively
– Lacking reCaptcha on your form
Add some form of robot challenge such as reCaptcha on your form and do not configure the contact form to send confirmation emails to the persons filling in forms
Infected WordPress Website– User may have an outdated theme/plugins that is vulnerable. Also, user may have used a theme/plugin that was cracked.– Keep your wordpress site up to date. Be careful not to purchase cracked themes/plugins unknowingly

Requesting Delist

To request delist, follow the steps below

1.Access HetrixTools Blacklist monitor via the link below

https://hetrixtools.com/blacklist-monitor/

2.Enter your IP address and Go. Allow a few seconds for process to complete. A report will be presented with sites that have your IP on Blocklists (Shown in Red) and those without (Shown in Green)

3.Click Delist on each of the blacklisted rows and follow the instructions provided by each Blacklist Provider.

Note: Each blacklist provider have their own way of delisting IPs. They are not the same. Read through each of the Delist instructions to know how to proceed.

Also, it is crucial to first fix the issue before requesting delist. If the Blacklist Provider notes repeated spam, the IP will be blacklisted again.
