Setting Resource Limits in Plesk

A system administrator may allocate parameters to users to prevent one server from monopoly during login and while carrying out its transactions. Every website is assigned the average usage of resources and when it exceeds the limit under subscription, the site receives a notification through email address.

Major resource Limits

  • Overs-usage of websites creation

Overuse of the space usage set for adding websites depends on the hosting plan the user has. Once you are at the limit it’s highly encouraged to upgrade the hosting to avoid inconveniencing other websites users of the server.

  • Disk space

This really depends on the number of emails received from a website and a single gigabyte storage for a domain is enough. Setting a limit on your website is important so that when the limit is about to exceed you can be notified by the customer.

  • BandwidthBandwidth usage occurs when people visit and download the website content thereby causing traffic. The traffic may be HTTP which is caused by people visits and use the web browser to download contents while FTP is caused by the administrator when he uploads content through FTP client. Failure to acquire a Bandwidth that can accommodate your website makes your domain get suspended.
  • Domains

Domains also do have a limit depending on the subscription. With a low subscription, it means space is limited and therefore adding sub-domains may occupy the space. However, for domain aliases, they require no additional space for they direct to the primary domain. Therefore having an alias helps in multiple sets up of websites.

  • Email usage limit

Every domain can have a limit of email addresses as per the subscription and therefore more than one domain uses the same storage subscribed for.

  • Databases

Database usage gets occupied when there are additional access control for MySQL for database users, adding users and also more database creations. The space depends on the subscription as well and so the user should consider an ample database backup

  • Domain Validity Period

Avoid getting your website disabled due to delayed payments out of financial breakdown by subscribing to unlimited validity. Otherwise the hosting provider suspends your site when the grace period is over and there is a risk of loosing your site clients and services.
