Public Key Cryptography

In cryptography, public keys enable security of data by electronically encrypting the entity’s data through codes. This data can be seen by third parties who cant alter or tamper with it for they lack the authority of the private key that decrypts the data. Public key cryptography uses two types of keys that is public and private key. The recipient keeps the private key as a secret so that digital data cannot be interfered with until it reaches the recipient intended.

In Plesk, SSL (secure socket layer)Certificate is the tool that secures communication between services and clients. Every website requires the SSL so that data encrypted by the clients can only be decrypted by the owner to avoid interference from third parties who can end up hacking your system. SSL can be free or paid for although for a free SSL it only lasts for 90 days maximum and afterwards have to be paid for.

To install an SSL in your website;

  • Click on hosting settings and double click to open

  • Enable the SSL support after filling in your data concerning the domain and the email address to be encrypted

  • Click OK to save to facilitate your data security
