Hosting Parameters in Plesk

In plesk there are conditions that defines and guides a subscriber concerning the hosting plans and subscription. Hosting plan can be turned off to only provide email services and so its not a must for a subscriber to have a hosting service for their domains and vice-versa. When the subscription expires, and the owner don’t pay for it, the website is disabled to make it temporary available in the Internet or also suspended completely(cant be found in the Internet). This status of the hosting plan can be changed manually by the provider. When a website is disabled the files can be accessed by FTP clients and Plesk continues managing while the services for hosting are off.

If owner of the site is not willing to continue maintaining the site then disabling it is a good option so that every user can be redirected to a 503 error/default page.

To change your website settings to either active, disabled or suspended follow the instructions below;

  • Login in plesk
  • click on domains- preferably the one to change the status
  • Double click on host settings

  • click on change the website status. This is where the website can be disabled, made active or suspended
