About .com.ng Domains

.com.ng is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) representing Nigeria. It is meant for commercial entities. The .com.ng domain space is administered by Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA).

Eligibility Criteria

• .com.ng domains can be registered by Nigerian citizens, residents, and companies.
• Foreign entities need to have a physical address within Nigeria to be eligible.

Registration Rules and Restrictions

• Domain names must be 3 to 63 characters in length
• Allowed characters are:
  • Alphabets (a-z)
  • Numbers (0-9)
  • Hyphen (-)
• Leading and trailing hyphens are prohibited
• Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) containing local languages are allowed

Registration and Renewal Timeline

• Initial domain registration period is 1-10 years
• Subsequently, domains can be renewed annually
• A 60-day grace period is provided after expiration to renew the domain

Managing and Transferring Domains

• Registrar transfers are allowed after 60 days from initial registration
• An authorization code needs to be obtained from the losing registrar
• Nameservers and contacts can be updated post-transfer

Nameserver Requirements

• Between 2 to 13 nameservers can be configured
• Both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are supported
• DNSSEC can be optionally enabled
