This guide will walk you through the steps to install phpMyAdmin on an AlmaLinux server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that this guide is for Almalinux 9.x. If you have Almalinux 8.x, please check <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/truehost.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/how-to-install-phpmyadmin-client-on-almalinux\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this<\/a><\/strong> guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prerequisites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>AlmaLinux server<\/strong>: A system running AlmaLinux (9.x).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Root or Sudo privileges<\/strong>: You need administrative access to install packages and configure the web server.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>LAMP Stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL\/MariaDB, PHP)<\/strong>: Ensure that you have a working <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/truehost.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/how-to-configure-the-apache-web-server-on-an-almalinux\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Apache<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/truehost.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/how-to-install-mariadb-on-almalinux\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MySQL\/MariaDB<\/strong><\/a>, and PHP installation on your server.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>EPEL Repository<\/strong>: The Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) repository must be enabled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 1: Update the System<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Before installing any new software, it&#8217;s important to update your package list.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code><strong>sudo dnf update<\/strong><\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you run into an issue with GPG Keys when running the above command, please see <a href=\"https:\/\/almalinux.org\/blog\/2023-12-20-almalinux-8-key-update\/\"><strong>this<\/strong><\/a> on how to fix it. Restart Apache Web Server<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To enable new configurations, restart the Apache:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code><code><strong>systemctl restart httpd<\/strong><\/code><\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6. Modify configurations file to allow Access from the IP<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>By default access to phpMyAdmin only from the local IP is enabled. However, you can edit the configuration file and enable access from the specific IP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Using your favourite editot like vim or nano, open the phpMyAdmin configuration file as below;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code><code><strong>vi \/etc\/httpd\/conf.d\/phpMyAdmin.conf<\/strong><\/code><\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Find these lines as shown below<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code><strong>&lt;Directory \/usr\/share\/phpMyAdmin\/&gt;\n   AddDefaultCharset UTF-8\n\n   Require local\n&lt;\/Directory&gt;\n\n&lt;Directory \/usr\/share\/phpMyAdmin\/setup\/&gt;\n   Require local\n&lt;\/Directory&gt;<\/strong><\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-zoooom\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/truehost.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-232-1024x281.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14880\" srcset=\"https:\/\/truehost.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-232-1024x281.png 1024w, https:\/\/truehost.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-232-300x82.png 300w, https:\/\/truehost.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-232-768x210.png 768w, https:\/\/truehost.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-232.png 1226w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Then add the the line below, replace <strong>your_workstation_ip<\/strong> with your network IP, to allow phpMyAdmin Access from your IP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code><strong>Require ip your_workstation_ip<\/strong><\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>\n&lt;Directory \/usr\/share\/phpMyAdmin\/&gt;\n   AddDefaultCharset UTF-8\n\n<strong>   Require ip 1.1.1.1\n<\/strong>   Require local\n&lt;\/Directory&gt;\n\n&lt;Directory \/usr\/share\/phpMyAdmin\/setup\/&gt;\n<strong>   <strong>Require ip 1.1.1.1<\/strong>\n<\/strong>   Require local\n&lt;\/Directory&gt;\n<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>* To allow access from all IPs, add the line below instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code><strong>Require all granted<\/strong><\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>\n&lt;Directory \/usr\/share\/phpMyAdmin\/&gt;\n   AddDefaultCharset UTF-8\n\n<strong>   Require all granted\n<\/strong>   Require local\n&lt;\/Directory&gt;\n\n&lt;Directory \/usr\/share\/phpMyAdmin\/setup\/&gt;\n<strong>   Require all granted\n<\/strong>   Require local\n&lt;\/Directory&gt;\n<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Save changes then restart apache service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code><code><strong>systemctl restart httpd<\/strong><\/code><\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7.
